Samantha Wall will present a new series of drawings and prints that explore the portrait as a means of communication about invisibility and hypervisibility experienced by women of color. She notes that “our bodies exist in an uneasy social space, corporeal and yet at times insubstantial. Influenced by the narrative elasticity of science fiction and its power to reposition our point of view, my work reflects familiar sensations from unfamiliar perspectives to position female bodies of color as the norm rather than a deviation."

Excited to share that I will be at Crow's Shadow this summer making prints with Frank Janzen. Thank you to The Ford Family Foundation and Crow's Shadow!
Crow’s Shadow is excited to share the news of our 2016 Golden Spot award recipients: Brenda Mallory, Samantha Wall and Ryan Pierce. Funded by the generous support of The Ford Family Foundation, the annual Golden Spot Awards began in 2010 to support Oregon-based artist residencies at Crow’s Shadow. Each of these artists will spend two weeks at Crow’s Shadow developing limited-edition prints, which will be hand-pulled by Crow’s Shadow’s Tamarind-trained Master Printer, Frank Janzen. The final prints will enter the Crow’s Shadow permanent collection. In previous years prints from the Golden Spot residencies have traveled extensively to galleries and cultural institutions around the region and nationally.
Drawing Deeper opens tomorrow, November 4th, at Gretchen Schuette Art Gallery at Chemeketa Community College
Check out my new work at Roq La Rue Gallery in Seattle. The opening is Thursday, October 1st from 6-9pm.
